Biography: 
Yanglin Gong is a full professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Lakehead University, Ontario, Canada. He received his B.S. and M.Sc. from Tongji University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo (UW), Canada. Dr. Gong’s primary research interests include the analysis and design of steel building frameworks and behaviours of steel connections. His articles have appeared in many scholarly journals such as Journal of Constructional Steel Research, Journal of Structural Engineering ASCE, Engineering Structures, and Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering. He teaches a variety of topics including solid mechanics, engineering mathematics, steel structures, concrete structures, finite element methods, structural dynamics and earthquake engineering. Prior to his doctoral graduate study, Dr. Gong worked as a senior structural engineer with Shanghai Institute of Architectural Design and Research. He was project engineer for several landmark buildings including Shanghai Library, Shanghai No.1 Department Store new building, and Ciro's Plaza. He received an award of Excellent Structural Design for Shanghai Library project from the Municipality of Shanghai in 1997. Dr. Gong is a licensed professional engineer in Ontario. He is a member of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is also a professional member of Canadian Institute of Steel Construction.
