Title: Augmented Marked Graphs : Theories and Applications
Abstract:
A subclass of Petri nets, augmented marked graphs possess a structure that is especially desirable for the modelling and analysis of component-based systems with concurrent processes and shared resources. As compared to other subclasses of Petri nets, augmented marked graphs are rather new in the literature, but were extensively studied in the past two decades. They possess a number of desirable properties pertaining to liveness, boundedness, reversibility and conservativeness. These desirable properties can be preserved after composition. This keynote presentation has two parts. The first part introduces the theories, pertaining to the structure and desirable properties as well as the property-preserving composition of augmented marked graphs. The second part focus on the applications of augmented marked graphs to the modelling and analysis of component-based systems. Flexible manufacturing systems and automated systems are used as examples or illustration.
