Title: Meshfree Methods – A new approach for solving Boundary value problems
Abstract: 
Mathematical modelling has been one of the recent approach to most of the real life problems. These models are either based on ODE/PDE or optimization techniques. The models based on differential equations are difficult to solve analytically due to irregular domains. Hence numerical simulation is used to find the solutions. Due to extensive development of computers, these numerical techniques are of much in use. These techniques can be divided into two types: Grid based and Grid free.
The grid based method namely FEM, BEM, FVM are quite efficient. However, for irregular domains and problems like propagation of crack, busting of stars where domain is not defined, the grid based method are not so efficient. In such problems Mesh free method are a good alternative. 
The Meshfree method basically consists of approximating the domain in terms of nodes, which may be uniformly/ non uniformly    distributed. Shape function at each node is computed at the time of computation, which is basically responsible for more computations time. There are many mesh free techniques developed, based on choice of shape function and weight functions. 
Finally, the Meshfree equations are assembled for all nodes, which are solved to obtained the unknown primary and secondary function at the nodes. The accuracy can be enhanced at the nodes. The accuracy can be enhanced by increasing the number of nodes or enhancing the degree of polynomials. Meshfree is efficiently used to irregular domains, applicable to flow problem in industrial problems, bio heat transfer problems used in cryosurgery etc.

Dr. Rama Bhargava is a professor in Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee.She has more than 40 years of experience in teaching and researching.She has won more than 10 National and International awards since 1973.She has made many academic and administrative achievements.She also have done lots of social services.
